KYAMPISI HOSTS FIRST-EVER AGRICULTURAL SHOW TO BOOST COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND SERVICE DELIVERY IN MUKONO DISTRICT.
Kyampisi Sub- County, Mukono North:
Mukono District Local Government, in collaboration with Kyampisi Sub- County, has launched a landmark agricultural show aimed at increasing community awareness and improving agricultural service delivery. The two-day event, which kicked off at the Kyampisi Sub- County headquarters in Mukono North, has been hailed as the first of its kind in the area.
The agricultural exhibition, spearheaded by the District Production Department, attracted various stakeholders, including farmers, pupils and students, community members, agricultural extension workers, and technical officers from across the district. The show featured a wide range of services and exhibitions in crop production, veterinary care, fisheries, and entomology.
Attendees were treated to free services such as animal vaccination, rabies prevention, treatment of livestock diseases, and practical demonstrations in greenhouse management and nursery bed care. Exhibitors from different fields showcased their products and innovations, allowing farmers and students alike to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in modern agriculture.
Speaking during the official opening, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Muhumuza Stephen, who represented the CAO Ms. Elizabeth Namanda, emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing among extension workers and technical staff. He urged Town Clerks and Sub-county Chiefs to organize similar agricultural shows within their jurisdictions to ensure that communities have access to vital agricultural services.
Mr. Muhumuza also called on the residents of Kyampisi and Mukono at large to protect the environment for sustainable development and long-term agricultural productivity.
The Sub-county Chief of Kyampisi, Ms. Harriet Namatovu Luzira, expressed her gratitude to the district leadership and production department for choosing Kyampisi to host the show. She also appreciated the exhibitors for their professionalism and commitment to sharing agricultural knowledge with the public.
Mr. Yigga Jamiru, the LCIII Chairperson of Kyampisi Sub-county and a representative of the Ntonto Farmers Field School, showcased innovations such as greenhouse farming and tomato nursery management. He encouraged the local community to embrace agriculture as a reliable source of livelihood.
On behalf of the District Chairperson Hon. Rev. Dr. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa, the Secretary for Production and Marketing and Councilor for Katosi Town Council, Hon. Afende Wambi Nathan, commended the efforts of Dr. Fred Mukulu, the District Production Officer, and his team for organizing the show. He reiterated the district's commitment to supporting lower local governments to improve service delivery.
Dr. Fred Mukulu, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the district leadership, CAO, and RDC for their unwavering support. He proudly displayed the trophy and certificate he recently won after being ranked third nationally in the 2025 Ministry of Agriculture Awards, further emphasizing Mukono's leadership in agricultural innovation and service delivery.
This inaugural agricultural show in Kyampisi has not only demonstrated the district’s commitment to empowering communities with agricultural knowledge and services but also set the stage for annual engagements across Mukono. With strong support from district leadership, technical staff, and enthusiastic community participation, this event marks a significant milestone in improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. As the show continues until Friday, August 8th, residents are encouraged to attend and take full advantage of the learning and services on offer.
