Mukono District Donates 12 Computers to Namuganga SSS to Boost ICT Learning and Community Empowerment.
Mukono District Headquarters:
Mukono District Local Government, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has donated 12 desktop computers and accessories to Namuganga Senior Secondary School, advancing the district’s drive to promote digital learning and community empowerment through ICT.
The equipment was officially handed over by the District Education Officer, Mr. Kikomeko Rashid, and the Senior Community Development Officer, Ms. Nsangi Immaculate. Receiving on behalf of the school was the Headteacher, Mr. Balisimaki Miseari, of Namuganga SSS in Seeta–Namuganga Sub- County, Nakifuma County.
Speaking at the handover, Ms. Nsangi on behalf of the district urged the school administration and learners to use the computers responsibly and effectively, noting that the donation is intended to improve learning outcomes and build skills that match the demands of today’s digital economy. She emphasized that the initiative also seeks to extend ICT benefits to the broader Namuganga community through knowledge sharing and responsible use.
“One of the district leaders” underscored that the computers should be viewed as tools for innovation, research, and knowledge-sharing, not merely classroom gadgets, and encouraged the school to integrate ICT across subjects, strengthen student clubs, and explore community outreach where possible.
The support aligns with Mukono District’s broader efforts together with development partners to bridge the digital divide in rural schools, enhance teacher capacity, and ensure learners gain practical computer skills that can serve them in higher education, entrepreneurship, and the world of work.
With the arrival of these 12 computers, Namuganga SSS is better positioned to deliver modern, skills-based education and to spark innovation among learners. The district’s call to use the equipment well is both a challenge and an opportunity: to integrate ICT into teaching, maintain the machines responsibly, and where feasible open pathways for community learning. If these commitments are upheld, the donation will translate into improved academic performance, stronger digital literacy, and tangible social impact for the Namuganga community
