President Museveni Meets Government Leaders and Civil Servants in Greater Mukono, Urges Proper Use of NRM-Gained Peace and Development Opportunities.

As part of his ongoing Presidential PDM Zonal Tour, His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni today met with government leaders and civil servants from the Greater Mukono sub-region, urging them to make effective use of the peace and stability secured under the NRM government to drive socio-economic transformation in their communities. 
He emphasized that while many from less stable nations seek refuge in Uganda, Ugandans must capitalize on the development programs introduced to lift themselves out of poverty.
Earlier in the day, President Museveni officially commissioned the Mengo Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub located in Nazigo Town Council, Ntenjeru South, Kayunga District.
The hub, which currently trains over 231 youths from 16 districts that make up the East Mengo zone (since the British colonial administration), aims to equip young people with hands-on vocational skills. After the commissioning, the President proceeded to Mukono Boarding Primary School in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality.
During the engagement, leaders led by Hon. Amos Lugolobi, the state minister for Finance and Economic Planning and Member of Parliament for Ntenjeru North, presented a Memorandum of Understanding in which they expressed gratitude to the President for his visionary leadership and the numerous development projects realized in the region.
These include Construction of Isimba Dam,Establishment of Namanve Industrial Park,Integration into the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, with infrastructure development such as roads and modern markets in Mukono,Construction of Kayunga Referral Hospital, Construction of over nine Seed Secondary Schools and renovation of existing ones,Promotion of pineapple farming in Buvuma,Establishment of a ferry service between Kiyindi and Buvuma,Implementation of the Emyooga Program and PDM, which has economically empowered many in the region
In his response, President Museveni pledged that the government would address all the concerns raised in the memorandum. He reiterated the need for citizens to safeguard the peace and freedom restored by the NRM, noting that without these, development would not be possible.
“The NRM government has laid a firm foundation for socio-economic progress. It is now up to the people to fully participate and benefit from the peace and stability in place,” the President said. He also added that Uganda remains a safe haven for many due to the freedom and security enjoyed under the NRM.
On the matter of education, the President revealed that the government’s current policy ensures that every parish has a primary school, and every sub-county has a secondary school. He also promised the construction of the Kayunga–Galiraya road, emphasizing that many roads across the country have been upgraded, even up to national borders.
The high-profile meeting was attended by religious leaders led by Bishop Enos Kitto Kagodo of the Mukono Diocese; traditional leaders including His Royal Highness Rtd. Major Baker Kimeze Mpagi, the Sabanyala of the Bunyala Kingdom; several cabinet ministers including Hon. Dr. JC Muyingo (Higher Education), Hon. Evelyn Anite (Investment), Hon. Diana Mutasingwa (Office of the President), and Hon. Ronald Kibuule.
Also in attendance were Members of Parliament, District Chairpersons, NRM flag bearers, LCIII Chairpersons, Councilors at various levels, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) led by Chief Government Whip Hajjat Fatuma Ndisaba, Chief Administrative Officers, Security Officers, and numerous civil servants from different government departments.
President Museveni is expected to continue his tour in the region and will address a public rally on Sunday, 22nd June, at St. Cornelius Kalagala in Ngogwe Sub- County, Buikwe District.
